Well....Since I cannot find any GOOD T2's at the moment to just pick up and drive, I will just finish my long term project....the Wide Bodied FB.

The body work and paint job is completed...glacier white. The HRE wheels are matched and rubberized. Suspension, just need to find a good set of springs or c/overs. The 12a on the thing is leaking oil....so, I will just drop in a SP s4 block w/ an early FB front cover. my T04e and a Microtech ECU....I have a budget of $2k for the engine, ECU, and exhaust w/ a HI-flow cat. W/ that configuration, It should pass California smog with no probs.

Well, consider an '87 TII cost over $23,000 new.

Then consider a 2003 WRX costs around $24,000 new.

See my point? Its amazing they sold ANY TIIs

I see your point, plus the fact that money was worth more back then. So you could really say a TII cost like $30k+ in todays funds.

I guess they are going to spam me know....They did not have an RX7 option. When I chose a B2300, I had to give them an email address to proceed to the next page....then it goes into a full form....just got spammed...****.

Turbo IIs are hard to find. I had to drive about 2 1/2 hours to get mine. I wanted to look at others, but at the time, I had no car, and my parents would not travel more than a few hours to look at a car. The Turbo II I got is a nice one, but if I had more selection its possiable that I would of picked a different one.

Be prepared to spend a day (ie. 5 hour drive there) looking at a car and dont buy the first car you see. Try www.autotrader.com , this forum, and www.thepartstrader.com Hopefully youll be able to find one. Turbo IIs are rare and awesome

I am will to fly anywhere. I was willing to fly to MO to get a turbo'd vert...but the guy wouldn't budge on price....seemed like an ***.

Anyway, I am now focused on getting started on my '83 wide body project.....if a nice T2 comes around...that thing is going on sale.

Actually, that is not a good point at all. 87 TII's offered outstanding performance in their day when compared to the other cars on the market. More so thatn the WRX does against its competitors today.

In its day,It was more car than the subaru is today.

actually the average household income was higher in 87 then it is now. In 87 it was right around 36,500 for the median household. Now it is something like 33,000 so it would actually be cheaper than an Impreza as far as spending power of a dollar goes. The TII RX-7 was a good deal then, and it still is now.

I had to drive 30 minutes north of Birmingham, AL to a lil town called Cullman to visit my wifes sick grandfather. I got lucky and found one for sale there sitting on the edge of a field. So I guess it was a good thing me and my wife took that trip. Best 4 1/2 hour drive back to Atlanta I've ever taken.

I flew to MN, and to Los Angeles twice, San Diego once.. just to look at FC's.

It takes a lot of effort to find a good one, but it pays off when you finally find one.

By the way, the sticker price on my TurboII was $29k.. a lot of money in 1989.

Ok, maybe a WRX was not the best example. My point is, RX-7s were incredibly expensive when they were new, and it is lucky that any of us found one in decent shape at all!! Would you pay $15,000 for a '85 GSL?! When you think about it, FDs are relatively cheap when new!!

Oh, and I drove 4.5 hours to Virginia to get mine.

I found mine on parts trader. I was really lucky, the thing was in sweet shape and only $4000, it had just been re-listed too as the previous buyer had backed out. This was for a 1990 model. It needed parts here and there as things broke but they were things you'd expect to break on any 10-12 year old car...

i was taking my girlfriend home about 2 miles from my house and saw someone pushing his TII. i helped him push it to his house and said well if you wanna sell it let me know and he said ok how about $2000. All i had to do was buy a slave cylinder rebuild kit for 7 bucks..... HELL YEA!!!! the interior was perfect... he was the original owner and just wanted to get rid of it since he was moving to Florida.
