WV When: Apex seal install

I've seen a couple of different videos on rebuilding the 7 and some people install the apex seal springs, then the seals, then the corner and then hold everything together with rubber bands.
Then, I saw a video in which the springs were installed after the housings were sit in place over the rotor. Different methods to the same end.
I'm sure there are pro's and con's to both methods but which method do you guys prefer. I have the parts for my rebuild coming this week.

First, I assemble the rotors but leave out the apex seal springs and apex corner seals. The apex corner seals always go on the side of the rotor which is facing the front of the engine. I make sure the apex seals are touching the bottom of the apex seal groove, are sticking out a hair from the back side of each rotor, and the rubber corner seal insert on the back side of the rotor and corner seal are engaging the apex seal. Engine assemble grease holds all the seals in place. Vaseline is fine. I use mil spec artillery grease because I have it...

Then, I assemble the engine. I install the apex seal springs and corner seals as I stack the engine.

I took this pic just after I installed the apex seal springs and the apex corner seals.

Throw up some pics your rebuild when you get to it

Thanks for the reply. This will be my 3rd full rebuild and I've always completely built the rotor and then just set it into the housing but this time I'm going to try it this way.

Do you have the shop manual? I would start there way before I would watch some video.

I do have the shop manual but it doesn't hurt to see how other people are doing it. If somebody has rebuilt 20 engines using their method, it must have some merit.

The shop manual is pretty vague about some rebuild steps. And some words and pictures are out of place. I printed out the Engine section of the FSM, put it in a binder and wrote my own notes all over it and highlighted stuff like the torque specs. It's really helpful because some things you only remember when you realize you forgot. For example, I made a special note to put the RTV on the legs of the housings and not the plates.
