When is Air Sent to the Cat?

Hey all, I am was talking to some ppl on the forum about just running the airpump to the cat all the time, but I was told that it would burn up the cat really fast. So I would like to know when is air directed to the cat convertor.

Thanks
-Justin

between idle and 2500rpms it goe into the exhaust ports and above that it mostly gets vented to the atmophere, except 5th gear cruise where it goes to the cat

Then do you even really need a airpump to go to a cat?

yes, without the airpump you would fail emissions.

I have removed all my emissions, so when I have to pass I just run a line straihgt from the airpump the lower split air pipe.

thats what I have been thinking of doing gsracer. But I would also switch to the smaller Japanese Market Airpump (at least a few ppl told me they were smaller).
