How much is too much, i'm not sure what mine wieght but my friend ordered rims for his project prelude (3rd gen lude with a a h22 and simple digital systems stand alone) he was told they were 32lbs each with the tire which we were told wasn't too bad, but when they arrived and we weighed em they are 48lbs each, 200 extra pounds!! thats alot isn't it?

32 lbs with the tire would be excellent, if not close to impossible on anything with larger than a 15" rim. 48lbs is probably about standard for 17x7's or larger with performance tires. A lightwieght 17" wheel is about 1lb/1in, so some Volk or Racing Hart 17's would be about 17 lbs. A 17" performance tire is usually about 20-25lbs, add those together and you get 37-42lbs. That's with some expensive wheels. In general, cheaper wheels are going to be heavier.

I just used 17's as an example, the larger the wheel, the heavier it will be on average per inch. The tire will aslo be heavier because there are steel cables in the bead on each side of the wheel. You get another 2 inches of steel cable for every 1 inch of wheel diameter. Also, the stiffer the sidewall the heavier it's going to be.

Weights above are based mainly on 17x7 wheels and 225/45/17 tires

I dunno about with tires, but in my opinion anything over 17 lbs for a rim is too much (without tire that is).

My enkei rpm2s 17x9 with toyo t1s tires 255/40 weighed 45lbs even. The toyos are really light tires, I think 5 pounds lighter than s03s and the rim weighs about 18.1lbs IIRC on the enkei website.

As a rule of thumb for all cars, Honda did some independent testing a couple years back, and for every 5 lbs of extra weight per wheel (or 20lbs rolling mass per car), there was an additional loss of 5 peak HP due to rolling loss.

So if you had a 150 RWHP car, and added 17" wheels that added 10 lbs per wheel, your 150 RWHP car would change to a 140 RWHP car.

Of course that works both ways... say you have a Turbo with the stock heavy 25 lb wheels and you replaced the wheels with the Vert's BBS wheels , it would feel like you just gained an additional 10-15 RWHP.

30 - 35 lbs. per wheel + tire for 16's is not bad.
This would imply it's running a 17 to 20 lbs. per wheel weight.
