Is wheel hop normal?

When I attempt to peel out my wheels just seem to hop and bang instead of smoothly sliding. What's up with that?

I use to get the same thing until I replaced my rear differential mount and then it seemed to stop.

One of the main causes of wheel hop is under-dampening. Wornout shocks on stock springs will cause wheel hop, as will too high of a springrate on good shocks.

I have a bad rear differential and new shocks with old springs! I guess you guys nailed it. So I should have the problem resolved when I replace the two i guess.

I have KYB AGX with Eibach springs, it still hops most of the times.

Whats the best way to eliminate it, should i set my shocks stiffer or lower?

Yea, Ive been meaning to ask that myself. When I try to do a burnout from a stop, It spins fine until the rpm's get about 4-5k, then just major wheelhop, I mean bad *boom* *boom* *boom*, feels like the cars fallin apart. If I go from a rool though, say like 5-10mph, itll do a burnout fine, can hit 2nd and still spin 1/2 way through it. All my suspension is stock, so do you think that that is my problem also?

its weird for me... i bring it up to 4000-5000, dump the clutch and get mad wheel hop. i bring it up to 3200 (my prime hole shot) and i just go. i bring it up to 7000, and no wheel spin, no peeling out, no nothing except for going. although, i wouldnt recommend bringing it up to 7000 and dumpin the clutch, cuz the last time i did, i got this weird boom in the back of my car (differential mount) that i STILL havent fixed...
