I would vote for removing the air pump but making a different type of air supply for the actuators. The reason the ports are there is to allow a flat torque curve. Do you want your RX-7 to drive like a Honda?

i wired them up when i took the airpumnp off... they were working from the best of my knowledge... what did i do ? messed em up ? loose torque?

Jack the ports are for torque in the lower end of the RPM scale.
If yours are wired open, then you lose the benefit of having them open @ a specific rpm.
But when your WOT. you are seeing no loss from having the ports wired open.

What are you trying to attain? Max power? Functioning Auxilliry Ports, to say the least?
Don't wire them open. You lose far more than you gain. Don't lose the Sleeves either, unless you have a massive B-Port or simular. Put the PR Sleeve Inserts In and follow my proved thread that will ensure max efficiency from your "6 ports".

Just put a 25 shot of nitrous in each hole and then you won't miss any torque.
The best part is the secondaries are not decreasing any velocity being the secondary plates are still shut, you only notice it if you smash the gas to the floor and then once the fuel turns on, do you feel the gain.

Ive completly removed mine and ground down/removed any rods or anything else protruding from that area so air flows fairly well. I dont have a lack of torque, but most of my power all comes online after 4500. I havent lost to any car with functioning 6 ports to show me that keeping them was better.

Jack the lower manifolds are exactly the same.. it the upper portions that are different.
If you want to see what I have done to that area, just swing by the house...
PS: Its Top Secret ****....

You can't wire the ports open any further than they would open normally, so there is no advantage in this unless your ports are not working.
BTW, Scott removed the ports from his car a few weeks ago because they were jammed shut. The car runs better now, but I don't think it's any better than it was when the ports worked. He's going to do some type of funky porting on it later, so I'm sure the engine will achieve significant gains then.

Removing them will give ultimate power and increase flow. When I installed my headers I couldnt run my ports properly so i had the airpump do it. After some opening time tuning at the track I noticed that they are not needed when racing or driving it hard. So I then removed my airpump and wired them open. Now I plan on removing them completely to increase airflow.

ok so more of u think that removing the ports do more better than worse? n e one see any improvements with pineapple racing sleeves? i have a new exhaust manifold gasket thatz why i was wondering all this. while im replacing the gasket i was thinking of doing this.
