Whats your take on water/methanol injection?
I've been browsing ebay and found a couple water injection kits, I really don't want to get a FMIC cause I don't want to cut up my car, plus the methanol should help give some more power. I know most of you oppose this idea I just wanna see some differing opinions.

which kit is the best?

Water injection on internal combustion engines is really more for high-boost situations. Also, its purpose is to combat detonation like high octane fuel, as opposed to being a power-producing fuel like nitrous oxide. The alcohol is primarily used as an anti-freeze agent, while water-soluble oil is also commonly added as an anti-corrosive agent. Water injection may add a little power due to the cooling effect, but that is not its purpose. The horsepower gains from water injection come from the ability to use a more correct air-fuel ratio, not from the fluid itself. Water injection does work as a power-producing agent in jet engines, but I'm not going to get into that.
Try searching or posting in the Single Turbo section.
BTW, in aviation we call it ADI (Anti-Detonant Injection) when used on internal combstion engines, so that may help your internet searches on the subject.

This thread is for the turbocharged guys interested in running high boost on the street with pump gas vs. having to buy $7-8/gallon 116 octane race gas.
I realize I am not running a rotary.... I'm just passing this info along to you turbo'd 13B's as this info applies to any forced induction engine.
*********************************************
I have an SMC alchy injection kit on my GN powered RX-7 which costs about $350. This lowers combustion temps about 200* fahrenheit and cools the charge allowing more boost to be run. Use an EGT guage to tune for optimum temp. In my setup optimum temp is 1550-1600* Fahrenheit at WOT at the top of 3rd gear. If temps are lower..... it means I'm running rich.... higher... means I'm running lean (and have probably fried a piston already). I always tune rich and then lean it out slowly.
Basically alchy allows me to run much higher boost and timing on 91 pump gas (highest we get here in CA at the pump). On regular 91 I could barely run 15psi with only 18* timing without detonation and making about 325hp on a stock GN turbo.
Now with the alchy kit activated via a boost sensitive Hobbs switch....... under boost at 14psi it gets activated ( I set it to come on at that point)... I can now run 22psi and 23* timing on crappy 91 octane with no detonation. This puts me at about the 400hp level on my stock turbo using denatured alcohol that I get for $7/gallon at Sherwin Williams paint store and the car feels like a madman. 1/2 gallon reservoir lasts me about 4-5 daysand I get on the throttle often.

Another option is the recently released propane injection available from OGS (developed by Buick GN guru Jay Carter). Same idea however inlet temps are greatly reduced as propane is not only a cooling agent (like water or alcohol) but it also is a fuel adder. This is a little more costly but it is something like 130 octane and 60 * below zero inlet temps (similar to spraying NOS with inlet temp drop... but much safer)!!!! $600..... but this may be the ticket on keeping the detonation out of your 13B and running high boost. Also guys are only needing to refill the propane bottle every few MONTHS!!!!! Refill at any propane refilling station is only $5-8!!!!

Good luck and may the boost be with you.

if you are referring to propane injection I don't know any "local" Bay Area people running it. But you can ask the guy that developed the kit if you are serious.

If you are interested in seeing alcohol injection kit in person shoot me an email. gnx7@hotmail.com I'm in SF at Ocean Beach.

Damn Damn Damn!! Propane injction it is!!!!!!
actually I was wanting to use this instead of getting an upgraded intercooler.......
thinking about going with the BNR stage 2 turbo
