What's you FC's best cruise speed?

Just as the Thread's Title imply's. At what speed does your car feel the most comfortable cruising. Usually while on my way to work i'll stick it right at 3000 rpms (80 mph) and i get around 19mpg. I get a nice smooth ride as well.

For law enforcement reasons, I cruise at 80. But, my car prefers to be cruising at 95.

Ha, "for law enforcement reasons I go 80" . . more like 70 around these parts. Or maybe I go slower because my car is too bright for a cop not to see.

On the trip to SevenStock, I cruised mostly around 90MPH on I-5. Felt like it could have been happy going faster, but I like having a license. Got 24MPG at 90, BTW.

when the manifold pressure is around -100 mmhg to -50 mmhg.

that means the engine is not boosting (wastes gas) and then it isn't fighting agianst the vac.

that gives best mileage

You got it. I go by KM/h, and I like around 140, which I think is 90mph.

If you're looking for mileage, I would say 62-68ish is the best

I find that at highway speeds the faster I go the better my gas mileage is (I have an na, not sure if this is the case for the TII owners). Not usually the case with other cars; they tend to have a mileage sweetspot.

As far as comfort goes, 140kph or about 88mph, you're out of the drone zone, the car seems happy at that speed, and if it's raining and you have some rain-x applied you don't even need the windshield wipers.

Seeing that it shakes over 90 and that right now the boost is stripping my clutch, I would say I cruise at 70... Gotta get my damn clutch installed.

A couple facts:

~i have a '89 GTUs....

~80mph in 5th gear for me is just over 3500rpm....

i here from you guys that 80mph should be 4000rpm and if that's true then that means somethings up??

You should be even higher than the other NA guys because of your GTUs rear gearing.

80 is at 3200 with 4.1 gearing. ~ 3500 with the 4.3 GTUs

People with 4k rpms 80mph are probably in TII's.

I did 115 between on a trip to knoxville last night. Light traffic, 3 lane interstate, light to no enforcement, valentine one in use, turbo under the hood in case I need it too :-)

Top up of course, the car couldnt be smoother. Seriously, there is ZERO NVH difference between 80mph and 120mph.

80-85mph. She's quite happy at 100 or so, but I usually travel during peak time so 3 digit speeds aren't possible. Stupid Midwest.
