Whats wrong with my rx-7???

Not to long ago, i bought a 1986 RX-7, when i bought the it would run fine until it gets up to normal operating temp. then when you got to a stop sign or light and let off the gas it turns off, but when you keep the gas on the car will stay on until you stop. What do you think is wrong, someone told me that it was the harness for something but i would like to find out. Thanks-

Did you search? Also, read the sticky FAQ in the 2nd gen section.

sounds like either a vaccum leak, or TPS failure. Maybe even the BAC valve... Search for those items.. see if other peoples problems sound like yours.

[quote]or TPS failure. Maybe even the BAC valve/quote]

TPS shouldn't stall the engine. The BAC would only come into play if he had a load on the motor such as A/C or anything else.

Can you start the car after it dies? Just rulling out a bad alternator or battery.

Sounds like maybe a simple idle adjustment. Is yours a Turbo or non turbo

Yeah.. BAC is unlikely, but it DOES directly control idle.... so.... who knows.. I'd pull it off and clean it anyways.

TPS, if its really messed up can definately cause this. I had one do exactly this.

But it sounds most like a vaccum leak.

Yea, it will start back up, so its a vaccum leak? Its not the alternator, it was just replaced.
