Unhappy What's wrong with my N/A

I'm having flooding problems with my N/A but still haven't found any real answer on the forum. Symptoms are hard to start when cold or when the car is turned off more then an hour and a bit of coolent in the exhaust. When cranked it smells like pure gas mixed with coolent. At first I thought it was the injectors but then I started to smell the coolent then I guessed blown coolent seal but no blue smoke. To start the car I have to disconnect the fuel pump and crank the car then connect it again until it starts. When the car decides to start it throws out white smoke and the rpms don't want to go lower then 1,500. After 10 min the white smoke goes away but the rpms don't change. Car runs fine and will start up quick if its with in an hour or so. Even though the rpms stay high the idle doesn't act up. Some tell me the timing might be off on the car but not sure if it causes all these problems. I recently rebuilt the motor so it only has about 5k miles on it. So right now I'm just trying to get some answers that way I decide if to sell the car or if its worth fixing. One rebuilt engine with in six months is enough for me so I would appreciate and answers you guys have for me, thanks.

Blown coolant seal would be white smoke, and the last thing you should smell in a rotary is the coolant, it should smell more like your standing behind a dirt bike.

Sounds like coolant seals to me, the sitting and cooling allows the remnants of the seal to contract, allowing coolant to build up in the rotor housing, making starting very difficult because it has to blow it all out of there.

Try this.

With the engine cool, remove the radiator cap, start the car, and fill the radiator until you can see coolant in the neck. If you see a lot of bubbling/sloshing, it's gonna be your coolant seals.

Fortunately it's been looking like N/A engines have been getting a little cheaper lately, though your engine sounds like a good rebuild candidate.

Just read the part about the recent rebuild. Didn't accidentally pinch a soft seal did ya? i know that even with generous amounts of High Tack they still tried to slip out of their goove.

As for the high idle, is the thermowax retracting all the way? How did you run your coolant lines when you reinstalled it?

Coolant burns white, so that's what you're seeing. Oil would have the blue/greyish lingering cloud. It sounds very much like your common coolant seal failure that progressively gets worse. The idle issue however sounds like a vac leak/misadjusted throttlebody or similar. The misadjustments alone could be the cause of a lot of the hard starting, but that white smoke will eventually be a killer unless you find out its coming from somewhere else.

Tried the bubble test and yeah I see bubbles so now I got some thinking to do about the my cars future. Another thing I found weird is with the oil it doesn't seem to be burning too much oil but it does smell like its mixed with gas. As for the rebuilt I didn't do it myself I took it to a shop, I seem to have bad luck when I work on my car so I don't bother touching it. Thanks a lot guys I appreciate the help.
