whats wrong with my caliper?

i got remanufactured calipers for the back and my left one is messed up or something. the e brake actuator just spins easily (im talking with everything on it off), doesnt compress and decompress at all, and lifts up instead of staying put. if you dont know what i mean exactly...hopefully this link works. (the pic kind of sucks) http://img107.exs.cx/img107/9602/q435y8dn.jpg. my other caliper is nice and has pressure to it while it moves up and down very little while spinning....like its supposed. one more thing, i tried to see what the piston did when i spun it in and out, it did nothing but spin around in circles. the only idea i have of all this is that the rod that the piston screws onto, there is a pin, and that may have popped up from the little groove its supposed to be in, making it just spin around. would that make a difference with the e brake problem then? please give me a little knowledge on this. i would go check one final time to see if i could figure it out but i have this pre ogt test **** tomarrow (for 9th graders) and i have lots of stuff to do tonight. hopefully i can get this all worked out without spending any more money! within the next month or 2 ill have a bunch of pics up of my complete brake/hub job. thanks

I'm probably not much help as I just did my first brake job, but it sounds like you should take the caliper back to where you got it for an exchange.

nm....i figured it out after pulling the piston out and everything. just needed to push the piston shaft back more. turned out to be a bitch to get the piston back on cause the damn mechanism inside it kept spinning with my turns so we had to take a socket and make our own sst or whatever the hell they are called to fit onto the piston. worked like a charm.
