whats wrong with the motor?

88 Vert - 13B......

idles fine but shakes like an epileptic dancing the cabbage patch when I press the gas.

Obviously you can't diagnose it from a thread description, but where's the most obvious place to start? would a compression test tell me (definitively) if the seals are shot?

ECM?
fouled plugs?
throttle body?
Apex Seals?

Just looking for the best place to start (perhaps I can save myself the trouble of a tear-down)

thanks in advance
Jason

my TII had a pretty bad vibration off idle when my cats were getting plugged. Took them out and runs smooth as can be. Might not hurt to check compression too.
