what's with this volt gauge?

Ok, I just recently got me an FC so I don't know much about them, I had a 1st gen so Im a newbie in the second gen performance. Since I bought the car (400bucks) I've noticed that at start up the volt gauge takes a little time to get to the bar before 16, when the car warms up it stays there steady but after driving for a long time it starts coming down to 12 and one point it started moving under 12 volts????????. The battery never gets decharged, the car has never shut off on my while drving, and all the lights and electrical devices work good., is this a faulty volt gauge??, or has my alternator started to fail on me???

hey sa22c where in miami do you live i also live in miami i live near Sunset Senior High School thats where im attending my brother drives a 3rd gen Rx7 i drive a 2nd gen maybe we can talk some time neways it might be that the cercuit board in the back is messed up or the gauge it self is bad... or the last option could be that your alternator charges when it wants to...

Have your alternator tested, sounds like the voltage regulator going nutty. It should show a constant ~14v, maybe slightly less if you have a ton of accessories running.
