To be honest, you're probably better off getting a s-afc and having it dyno tuned. CJ

Your right, but for an extra 3 or 4 (if lucky) RWHP by going with the S-AFC over the MD ECU chip, you wil be paying about 300 more for tuning and dyno time.

The ECU chip from MD gives about 12 or 13 RWHP, while the S-AFC can be tuned to put out 15 or 16 RWHP.

NOTE: these are dyno numbers I've seen over time. their not a guess.

BTW I sent them an email last week, but no reply.

Their Phone is in one of the threads from a few weeks back, do a search under ECU Chip int he 2nd gen section and look throug the psot to find it.

I'd like to see proof of dyno sheets myself.&nbsp I've heard a lot of third-party experiences or "dyno butt" references, but nothing supported with a dyno sheet.&nbsp Anyone have one handy?

I've searched for them for a lil bit now. Last time I asked soem one said that the person who posted one of the ECU Chip was before the last hack.

When ever I get mine fi I ever do that is. I'll take it to a dyno and do a swap of the ECU (I have that extra one) and see what the gains are.

But that migth take 2 or 3 months so dotn hold your breath

A burnt chip is never as good as a piggy back system that can be adjusted. I have no idea how much a MD chip is, but a s-afc is worth the $300 new. Not to mention, is re-sellable to many different car makes. Just my .02 CJ

resellable AND re-tuneable you gotta figure that the chip will not be ideal for your mods and will be based on a best guess estimate. A "chip" upgrade is the electronic form of parts-hanger modification: Just throw stuff at the car and trust the manufacturer that it'll add power.

Someone mentioned that the additional cost of tuning wasn't worth the added 3-4hp (SWAG estimate) gain. How much is the MD chip? There are cheaper ways of making 15-20hp (again SWAG estimate) than that. And besides, you'd want to dyno the car before and after anyway, just to know if the chip was helping or hurting performance. By that time you could have had the S-AFC halfway dialed in.

Thank you for your replies. Ideally I would like a nitrous setup so a S-AFC is probably the best way to go. Combined with the fact I can use it on another car if for some wierd reason I ever get rid of my rex.

The MD chip is $295, about the same price of the S-AFC minus the dyno time. They claim 25HP which is bull ****, but 13 hp is not bad, even thoguth its nowhere close to what they claim. But you should never go by what a manufacturer claims.

BTW, the ECU chip is ONLY recomended if you are only gona do basic mods such as intake and exhaust. If you plan on porting and more, the Chip is not worht it, MD Race told me so themselves.

So matlock if you wan Nitrous or plan on porting int he future, I sugest nothing LESS than the S-AFC you will not regret it.

If you realy want the best out of your car, and have about 1,500 to spend I recomend Either a Haltech (SP?) or a Wolf ECU, or what ever you like better. You can get a Haltech for $900 to your door, to have it installed and programed is about $400.

Oh and dotn bother on asking which one is the best because you will not get an answer. It all about who arround you can tune it and which one you can get more tech help from in your area. Either system tuned well will give you better results over an S-AFC.

Just my view on this.
