Whats this on stock exhaust?

I just now noticed that every stock exhaust I have seen on a FC has something wierd on the exhaust tips. Its at the end, kinda like little grooves or cuts. I say just now noticed because mine never had those in there. What are they and what do they do?

I have yet to see an FC with a "Stock" exhaust, so I dont know what you're talking about. At the very least theyve had stock-like replacement midas mufflers or something.

I have little straight lines on the inside of my exhaust. It's not stock but it's just a replacement (<3"). Not for long...soon to be putting on 3" straight pipe/duals.

My stock exhaust is nothing more than chrome extensions welded onto metal extensions from the muffler tips.
Could you possibly be looking at a Borla exhaust?

No, they cant be Borlas. Mine look the same as what you just described. But all the others I have always seen always have those grooves. Yea, its stock, little tips welded on to the pipe. I WISH it was a Borla!

Yes, that "cable" is an exhaust ground.

Layered...hmm I dont know exactly what you mean...its like the last couple inches of the tip, there is an extra piece inside that kinda has grooves. No one with a stock exhaust knows what I am talking about?

The factory chrome exhaust tips are rolled in. Possibly they are rusted and cracked, giving the impression of slits.
