Whats right in the 1/4 ????

I have a stock 87t2 170k and ran a 14.9 with a .7 reaction time because I was trying different lauches. So I figured with a .5 Rt my car would run a 14.7 but somebody out here told me that the clock doesn't start untill the car moves.

This has been bugging me since last year . It seems that everybody on the internet thinks this but when I talk to people that race for a living and one worked at cayuga dpteam for three years and they all say when the green hits the clock is on and your reaction time is part of the skill otherwise why would it be there...

Reaction time (RT) has nothing to do with the actual run itself.
You could sit there all week, and your ET will not change.
The winner of the RACE is decided by adding RT with ET.
RT just tells you how fast you reacted to the Chrismas Tree...

The race is not technically decided by RT + ET. It is who ever crosses the finish line first, period! Elapsed time is from the instant you roll out of the Staged Beam to the instant to you cross the Finish Beam. Reaction time is from the instant the green light comes on and the instant you roll out of the Staged beam.

Make sense?

Yeah, moremazda's right. This means the winner is not necessarily the car with the quickest time!

Fastest RT + ET *IS* the person who cross the finish line first *BUT* without redlighting - going under the perfect RT.

OK, Ted’s technically right, but most people just think of it as whoever crosses the line first! As an exaggerated example, if a 16sec car leaves the line on the green and a 13sec car waits say 5 seconds before going, the slower car will cross the line first and win even though his official ET is three seconds slower than the other car's ET.

wait I'm confused lol no rt has nothing to with the 1/4 mile time you get. The only way rt comes into dragging is when you are racing someone else. You could have a better rt by .2 then your oppenent but if he runs a 1/4 mile .3 faster then you, you will lose by .1

what was the best launching method for you?

My launching technique that worked best was to hold at 4000rpm slip the clutch to make a constant slow chirp and roll on the gas to keep the chirping all the way through first than shifting with the buzzer and just switching into fourth before the finish line.

Tried alot of runs differently and could only come up with 15.1 - 15.3 it seemed to be all in the launch. I started to work on car now and the autometer boost gauge reads only 4lbs so this year I'll make lots of improvements.
