whats next to fail in this FC?
hello
i have been interested in buying an RX7 (FC) for a while and just recently i have found one with 130,000 miles (convertable). Im not too fimilar with RX7s and i was wondering how they hold out over time.
a few things have already been replaced (switches, window motors, etc) and i just wanted to ask: Whats next to fail?
the car is about $3000 so i wouldn't mind a few repairs
i'd apreciate any help
thanks a bunch

is hard to say what is goin to fail. Is a 20-15 year old car. It really depend how the original owner and/or previous owner took care of the car. For one thing of course electronics in the car is not all that great, is old car is kinda expected. 130k on engine, i would do a compression check to check if the engine still good and able to run strong, and etc.

thats a good idea
do you know of any common problems older RX7s get though?
(its a 1990)
it seems like the owner has taken very good care of it, he is kind of a car fan and im sure he treated it right

I think $3000 is too much in Cali unless it's really goodcondition. People on the forums get great deals on California RX-7s.
I'd suggest you read the FAQ that's stickied at the top of the forum. There should be a link or two to a buyer's guide, and check the Cars for Sale section of the forum to gauge the worth of the car based on location and condition.
As far as repair costs, I spent about $700 for nice tires and some various things. Fluid, some tools, belts, etc. Now, I intend to replace my shocks/struts/springs, bushings, exhaust and maybe radiator ($2000 or so total) and then sit on my wallet until I can find a nice clean chassis to fix up and swap into.
Good luck, and have fun.

no matter what car you get you are going to want to replace the hoses, belts, and fluids. the rest is a crap shoot... but make sure you get a compression test before you buy it.
as long as your motor and transmission are solid mostly everything else is little **** you can take care of yourself. An N/A is not as bad as a T2.
