What's most important LOOKS OR SPEED?

If you guys had a choice between these 2 versions of our cars, what you would choose? The 1st one is damn fast, take out almost anything on the street but looks alright, nothing to impress anyone in a parking lot, only at the races. The 2nd one, let's just say everywhere you go people come up to you and drool over the car. So which do you choose? The thing is YOU CAN'T CHANGE ANYTHING, you gotta keep it the way it is..SORRY..heh its my POLL!....

You should be able to run 13's with just a little tweaking of your current setup...

Performance first then make it look nice. Its like having a lamborghini kit with a fiero engine. A very nice looking paper wight.

????????????????

How your car performs is what makes you smile.
How your car looks - well - that is damn sure subjective.
The "RICERS" seem to enjoy bizarre appearance.
This is your car right?
Make yourself happy.

I say start off with go-fast/suspension mods first. Once youre happy with your cars performance, work on the looks of it (paint job, wheels, interior work).

I dont think the rx7 was designed to "run 11's" It was designed to handle great, while being quite fast, so thats what I'd want it to do. If it looks good, thats a plus. Using 1/4 times to eval a car's performance is for camaro owners

The car looking nice is what gets you the girls.

i second SoloIIDrift,

i think our cars are much more for curves than straight lines. and its more fun taking high speed curves, yet i would much rather have a car that is fast than one that just looks fast.

anyone can bolt **** on to the body, but to tune an engine to perfection is what being a car guy is all about..

my $.02

Most of what you do for performance is illegal on the street. Worse, because of the amount of traffic, it's often simply unuseable.

Making the car look good is "useable" whether you driving on the street, in a parking lot, in your driveway/garage.

As much as I like (and have built) sleepers, looks are more "useful" than outright performance in a street car.

BTW, a stock N/A RX7 in good shape looks like a fast car. In fact, it looks very cimilar to the turbo version. But they only run 15s. Which isn't really all that fast. Does that then, by what seems to be the definition here, make the stock N/A Rice? I mean, it looks faster than it is. It cannot back up it's "looks" with the performance of the faster version. If you then have a nice clean, stock N/A RX7 are you a riceboy?

I think the answer is no, so maybe some of you might want to reconsider what you think of as "rice."

I say start off with go-fast/suspension mods first. Once youre happy with your cars performance, work on the looks of it (paint job, wheels, interior work).
What if you are already satisfied with the performance of your street car, even if that means "only" a 14 second quarter mile car? Again, on the street, you're not supposed to be racing, so it is quite possible to be satisfied with a mechanically stock RX7.

Just because I won't utilize all of my car's performance on the street doesn't mean that the car is useless. Maybe it just serves as my daily driver every now and then in addition to numerous track days, autocrosses and test n tune at the strip.

I want my car to look decent (read:stock) and perform incredibly well (read: exotic). Performance means so much more to me. I don't care if anyone thinks my car looks cool or not. That's not why I'm into this hobby. I'm not using the car to pick up women, I'm not using it to impress people, I'm out there to have fun. And I have fun by making my car perform better.

This was a poll ? Didnt get it right away....

in order to make a poll, you need two or more valid options. I only see one

dont think I have to explain which one is this....

Oh come on... most appearance mods make a car unuseable for the street. Lowering makes bumpy roads impossible, body kits make driveways and speed bumps impossible, big wheels and low-profile tires need constant replacement from pothole damage, clear lenses are highly illegal even with the proper colored bulbs (they must also REFLECT the proper color light with lights off), rear wings make it very difficult to put stuff in the back, although i suppose you could simply use bungee cords to affix grocery bags to a sufficiently large wing, and you can save money at the laundromat by attaching a clothesline between the two posts and driving really fast...

By the way... stock N/As aren't 15 second cars, more like mid-high 16's.

Some parts of the country thought it's is entirely useable. I see your point though, up in your area is pretty dense, you'd get more opportunity to show the car than to go the car. Out here in TX it's wide open though, You can pick a race in town and 10 minutes later your out in the boonies racing.

I voted performance, cuz I think a RX-7 TII is nice enough already! The thing is, a car enthusiast will see your car, and know what it is, and respect that. A ricer or some hoochie is usually only impressed by new imports, or ones with flashy rims and body kits. It all depends on who your trying to impress.

I don't have my in terms of exterior plans for MY car. Maybe rims and lowering, but that's about it.
