Wow, that's a loaded qestion.

Sticking to model year 86, the GXL is the luxury model. Better audio system, power windows, locks, mirrors, etc. Came with some mechanical goodies too, LSD, four piston brakes, etc.

The Sport Package came with some additional aero pieces, two sideskirts behind the doors, a spoiler, an additional aluminum belly pan. Also had 'sport tuned suspension." Didn't have all the luxury options.

The Base was the strip down. No big brakes, four lug wheels (all others had five lugs).

Edit - I knew someone would post that picture after I tried to remember it all. From top to bottom that covers 86, 87, and 88.

Those are from the factory brochures; no they don't make them anymore. Best place would be to check the forum for sale sections and try looking on ebay. I was able to get the factory brochure for my year, 1991.

So wait? The silver belly pan under the tranny is an added option thingy?

I have the stock plastic shroud and then after the brace there is another covering the oilpan/tranny.

Also I have the little wedge skirts in front of the rear fenders and a small lip with wedges before the front wheels. Is that the aero package?

Corey,
88 GTU "I learn more and more things about my GTU every day. GTU ROCKS!!"

hehe had to copy him.

Yup, that is the aeordynamics package, takes your car's aeorodynamics down to an very low .29cd, from the normal RX-7's .31cd.

About $10 from a forum member. Having them on a CD would be nice (keep us posted Mark), but I'm a memorabilia nut, so having the actual brochure is pretty damned cool to me. In my "rotary" collection I have:

RX-7: The New Mazda RX-7 and Rotary Engine sports Cars by Jack Yamaguchi (referred to as the "FC book")

RX-7: The New Mazda RX-7, Mazda's legendary Sports Car by Jack Yamaguchi (the FD book)

RX-7 Mazda's Rotary Engine Sports Car by Brian Long

Mazda RX-7 Gold Portfolio 1978-1991

Mazda RX-7 Performance Handbook (a disappointment IMHO)

Sports Car Color History - Mazda RX-7

Add in a brochure, a parts catalog and service manual for my year, and I have a nice library.

The Yamaguchi books are incredible. They are out of print, so kind of hard to find. I found the FC one on eBay and the FD one from a Borders computer search. The rest can still be bought easily.

Yeah, my uncle bought me that book, I thought it really sucked, there isn't really any good part to it.
