Question whats this guy talking about? (flywheel)

im looking to buy a flywheel, and i found this, but i donno what hes talking about when he says, "and the steel insert that the clutch disk rides on is getting thin." cuz im a noob =\

ps i have an 89 vert doing manual swap

well.. on an aluminum fly, the friction disk does not ride on the almuminum, theres a steel disk that the actual firction plate contacts. Like a brake rotor, the contact area on the flywheel will wear over time, but its usually pretty slow! this fly must have been driven pretty hard to have it worn so much, you can get a flywheel milled just like a brake roter, too... that will make it even thiner. This fly must have experenced a bunch of hard launches, or the driver mush have let the clutch slide a lot. I'd say, pass this one up.

It is probably an aluminum flywheel. Almost every manufacturer makes a replacement metal disk for a reasonable price that just bolts on.

Check the brand name before you buy and see if one is available. Split the cost of a new one between you in the price.
