whats goin on here?

ok so i have an 87 fc. starts up and runs pretty good for like a few minutes and then starts to run really choppy and white smoke. smells like coolant but i think its somethin else. injectors? help me out here thanks

white smoke is usually coolant... have a sample of you coolant checked for exhaust gases at a radiator shop... if yes, you need a rebuild... if no, then you can start looking for other things.

reasonable price ?

a complete rebuild kit with all the seals and stuff cost over 1K, thats if other stuff is still within spec.

If money is an issue, stay away from this car.

I think you can do nearly as well price wise by getting a rebuilt-exchange engine from Rotary Resurrection. It's only slightly more than the parts, and you get it done by a pro.

If you do it yourself, do not forget to send the end and center irons out to be lapped.

hmm, having built like `15 engines, i wonder how good lapped irons actually run compaired to the 120+psi engines i've built. Seriously, perfessionals could have your motor good as new for under 300 in parts. about 2000 in labor.

money isnt really the issue, just trying to explore my options
