Yes, I belive the GX was the canadian base model. Similar to a US "SE"

The differences would be that the GX has the 4-lug wheels and smaller brakes, and the GXL will have 5-lug, better brakes, and a LSD. It will also have the AAS (auto adjusting suspension), and well as a few other options such as power windows...
I could be a little off, because Im not sure if canadian models are alot different than US models.

I dont have mine anymore, but when I did I heard the actuators on the struts "click" when I changed from sport to normal, but as for feeling a difference, I couldnt tell all that much. It seemed to want to "bounce" less over bumps, but it could be all psychological I guess......

I could never figure out if it was working on my GXL or not.... When I flipped the switch, the voltmeter would dip for a second, but I didn't notice the ride change at all.

my rpms drop and it whines all the time whether in normal or sport.....but i dont feel a difference. I think the whine is coming through the aftermarket speakers the previous owner installed on the strut towers. Anyone have anyother idea why i hear a whine on while the aas is on....not in between when i click from one to the other but once the rpms get back to normal the whine starts

The GX was the same as the US spec 86-87 Luxury coupe and the 88 SE.

May also be the same as the 89-90 GTU.

i gotta 88gxl wit close to 75k on the original engine. When I first got the car i didnt what is was for. but when i started switchin to sport i hear the "click" and the steering wheel itself feels a little more harder to turn (firm) but its more responsive. as for a difference in the ride i really cant tell between the 2

i saw an aas in the yard today and looked at the top of the struts...it had a 3 inch ruber deal on the top im guessing that is what the change comes from? didnt seem like much of a big deal...how much could it do? lowere the springs 3 inches? i guess thatd make a difference.
