What's the best 'rtv' type sealant for these application

What's the best stuff to use instead of gaskets when replacing the oil pan, front cover, water housing, and water pump?

Anything in the grey, black, red, or blue varieties should be OK, as long as it's not the cheap stuff...Make sure the tube of whatever you're buying has the words "gasket maker" on there somewhere...For the water pump housing-to-front housing coolant passage area up at the top there, I would use a gasket (remember there are shims on 2 of the left upper side studs for the water pump housing, so that when you do use a gasket, everything will seat flat).

RTV the crap out of the oil pan, don't use too little...

Use less on the front cover, but still a good-sized bead...

I would use a gasket on the water pump, also...

Remember you can apply a thin layer of RTV to the gaskets also, on each side...

Is it absolutely necessary to use a gasket on the water pump housing to front housing. I've checked all around locally and no one has it. It would take me another 4-5 days to get one.

the mazda dealers here in fl. when you buy a gasket you can get it next day for less than 2 bux, next time you order gaskets ask them about it, i would rather pay a extra $2 to get it in 1 day
