Sorry I'm not a body guy so I just went out the other day and started cutting my front bumper to fit my new fmic with a rotor tool and a cutting disc but i'm sure there is something better out there for this. Anyone care to enlighten me

Hacksaw.........if you're going to use anything to cut these TPO bumpers that is heating it up and causing smoke, you SHOULD be wearing a charcoal filter mask because the smoke it gives off is extremely volitile.....at the very least do it where there is sufficient airflow that you're not breathing it in for a while.

The support? Take it off and clamp it to something and just hack saw it.

how many people put the bumper support back on??? Also what makes the clean look when you cut the bumper? a rotary tool definalty doesn't do this but maybe some sort of sanding bit will work for that?

i put my reinforcement back on by modifying it slightly. for the reinforcement use a hacksaw or sawzall. for the bumper I used a rotary cutting tool to cut out the general shape and then used a large file to get it nice and smooth. definately wear a mask if you are using a rotary cutting tool on the bumper. when cutting the bumper you want to cut so that all the ends are just slightly curved in like their stock appearance. it really helps it look much better. if you want i can give you some up close shots of my s5 bumper that's cut out

If you use a hack saw you'll get a clean cut becuase you aren't melting the plastic.

Just tape the area you're cutting so you don't peel the paint back.

Also, you'll have to touch up the edges afterwards because you will have a yellow edge where the plastic is seen.

P.S. I never had to take my re-bar out becuase I am doing a custom setup that goes where the old school Greddy did - I wasn't ready to lose the rebar.....just in case..... mean it IS a giant part of the structural integrity of the front end.

use a drimmel with a diamond tip cutting wheel. It melts through the bumper like butter. Just use a sharpie to draw the line you want, then just cut.

Sawzall, dremel, then a palm sander to make it nice and smooth.
