What year is this tb i got... argg
this is odd then
Ok check this out then. i have two tps sensors i thought only s5's have two tps sensors. and also this is in a 91 na. Ack im newer to these cars ind now im really really lost lol. maybe last owner put an older tb on s5 engine?? how do i tell if the engine itself is s4 or s5/
Someone put an S4 UIM-LIM on your car. I'm guessing, but it looks like to be an S5 block because I don't see a MOP rod from the TB. Unless it's blocked off and you're running premix on the S4 block. I'm not very familiar with NA's, so please seek other confirmation...
What the hell happened yo your TPS wiring?

I have no clue on the tps wires
I got this car as-is. The problem it had was broken acv sensors, which i fixed today and the car would bog when i stomp it. no acceleration at all. I ordered a new throttle body so that i could get the tps to work but it was not the same. Why would someone put an older tb on the car? does it work? maybe this is why im having probs with acceleration.
That definately looks like an S4 setup, entirely! Engine, cooling system, alternator and all!
Definately NOT 86-88...
I see nothing on that engine at all that would be from an S5!!
Post more pics of your car!!!
That's wierd.. what proof do you have that your car is a 91??? You may have gotten ripped off.

I noticed the filler neck is aluminum, aren't the S5's plastic?
That might very well be an S4 engine in there. What numbers are on the ECU?
Look for a fuel injector resistor pack up under the air filter assembly.
argggg
anyone have any ideas of how to make this work. any and all help will be greatly appreciated. and the turbo hood came with the car i figure b4 i mess with anything else id get it running 1st lol. im having a horrible time with this car. anyone in chicago who does rotary work on the side?lol
91 with 88 engine, T2 hood, and someone messed with the wires on the TPS they are not single spade wires, but rather a plug. Someone wanted to get the car running and put an 88 engine in it to get it going. What model ecu?
Holy crap, That's crazy. Someone swapped engines on you, If you could, send me the VIN and I can tell you exactly what it was, I'm currently signed up for an autovin check deal.
email me the vin: defekt@thoughtshop.com

Looks like you have quite the hybred there. It seems that some one put 86-88 engine in there and put the 89+ TPS on it I would check the ECU to see if it is a S4 or S5 if its still the S5 ECU it could be running in limp mode due to it not seeing the electric OMP.
1. That's one good looking car no matter what the engine is.
2. That is most certainly a series five alternator and harness plug going to the alternator.
3. I'm guessing that the throttle body is a series five because I see the two tps plungers on it. I'm not that sure, but very sure that you cannot put a series five tps on a series four. There wouldn't be anything to depress the plungers on the tps. So it's a series five throttle body attached to a series four dynamic chamber.
4. You say you bought the car *as is*, so there should be no complaining to the fellow you bought it from (and I hear none from YOU).
5. If possible, it would make a lot of us happier if you could look down at the omp attached to the front cover on the engine. Right side. Lower right side. See if it has a rod going from there to the throttle body.....or if there is any electrical plug going to it. IF there is an electrical plug, then it's a series five omp and if not connected up will make the car go into the limp mode. Not run for flip.
Free, online fsm at http://www.iluvmyrx7.com download the ENGINE chapter of the 90/91 fsm and you might want to look at the ENGINE chapter of the 88 model as well. Maybe look at he OIL section of each fsm as well to give you a clue.
5. Still a good lookin car. It'll probably run good when the omp issue is settled.

Hey! Take another close picture of the throttle body, except show the tps plungers. Thank you.
EDIT: I noticed in the last throttle body picture that I can just see the omp rod. Its got that cotter key thru it. So you must have a series four omp down there. But it being a series five, and probably a series five ECU, then the car will go into the limp mode because the series five omp electrical plug cannot be connected to anything.
If that's the case, then you can solve the limp mode by getting a series five omp and connecting the electrical plug to it. Then wire tie or somehow attach the series five omp to keep it from falling on the ground.
Or you could buy a series five front cover and put a series five omp on the engine and all would be well. Costly.
Just what seveninphilly said, just the longer version.

i appologise for delay and pics....
I was thinking at first that you wanted pics of the top end of the arm where it connects but now reading more i believe you all want pics looking down the arm?? if thats the case ill try to get them friday morning... "later today". one thing is still not clear... "IF" i get the electric omp thing and do what you all told me to do and it works i still have two tps sensors.. should i just use the linkage/arm from the s5 tb i have? i guess i can worry about that when i get the main problem fixed lol.
also what i forgot to tell you all is that when i mess with something electrical like the main fuse block or the acv sensors that i changed today then start the car it will run a hell of a lot better. For about 10 seconds that is. is this just the computer taking a second to catch the mayhem of the engine?
EDIT: I forgot to tel you all Thank you all verry much for helping out.
