what is wrong with my car?
My car has major problems, but I don't know whats wrong. Here is my problem: The car takes usually at least 30 mins to start, once it starts it smokes (look at the picture) untill the engine warms up. The engine does not feel weak; it almost feels stronger than my other rx-7 with superflow cat and RP performance cat back. It runs very strong. Also, the "add coolant" warning light is always going on and off. It seems like it doesn't suck any out of the overflow tank too, and nothing seems to make it stop. I took it to the Mazda specialist shop in town and they didn't know what was wrong. I'm getting a rebuild in a couple months anyway, but this problem is bugging me.
Any help would be great. thanks

really bad water seals...internal engine problem, roughly equivalent to a bad headgasket on a piston engine, only repair is a rebuild, it'll get fixed with the new engine.
BTW< I can hook you up with an engine guaranteed to cost less than what you plan to get now. Email me if interested, hypntyz@charter.net or check the link below.

would I be able to re-use the engine internals in a rebuild? I am planning on rebuilding the engine in an auto tech class this year. would I need to get new rotors or housings?

probably so, but you never know until youre in there. sometimes water pumpers rust up i nside, and you cannot get all teh seals out of their grooves, making replacement impossible. Usually, unless theyre left to sit unstarted though, this doesnt happen.
