What would you guys do with $1000?
I'm planning on getting power out of my s5 gxl. I can go 2 ways. Turbo or streetport/mild bridge port.
Now If i got a turbo i would just leave my engine the way it is and run around 8 psi boost. now the streetport, lets get labor out of the picture, thats not an issue, The expense i would have for a streetport would just be the price of the rebuild kit(what kinda seals should i get?).
So yea which option would you guys choose? Whats the more wiser choice?
Also dont worry about the driveline, I already got the whole t2 driveline, differential and all that stuff that ima put in once i streetport/turbo the car.

Will a grand even get you from NA to turbo?
Ignoring the drivetrain- which is already apparently covered- there's still the fuel system upgrades, different exhaust and all the turbo manifolding, not to mention the almost inevitable engine management upgrade.
Seems like $1000 is cutting it very close...

Im covered with exhaust also, 2.5 inch with headers no cats and 2 mufflers. I actually have a stock s5 turbo laying around but im debating on wether i have less headaches with street port or turbo. If you guys are wondering what my goal is, its around 200-250. I dont want so much power, just enough to make my engine durable as a daily driver and enough power to embarrass hondas.
Find yourself a good shape TII engine harness and possibly an RTEK. This would probably set you close to $1500 but it can be done for $1000. Hell save the extra $ and buy a whole TII like i did for $1800 and it was even a 10th AE and came with a car full of aftermarket parts and some other stuff. Then you can embarass much more than a honda. I DD my TII and love it. My vert is actually going to be my weekend car when its done.
get a nice piece of *** and call it a day !!! I dont think $1000.00 can even do that haha, the car sounds like it is very nice how is the paint I know this sounds stupid but i see a lot of 2gen 7s with alot of hp good running but the body looks like **** .it is not a bad thing when a car looks like it can go 200 mph just sitting in a parking lot, durable as a daily driver and hp do not go together!!!
some people will debate with you on the hp and durability for a DD thing. If done correctly and conservatively tuned people can drive 600+ hp cars on a daily basis. It all about the tune, driver, and upkeep. There is a thread here somewhere covering the whole topic.
For 1000 bucks, you probaly couldnt do either! Unless you are re-using apex seals for the streetport or already have a turbo exhaust manifold and a custom T2 UIM to N/A block manifold. Then you've got to get sensors and injectors and ECU's and harnesses to wire.... blah blah blah....with $1000, I buy a megasquirt; put the rest in savings until you can afford a t2 engine complete, then bam; killing more than hondas (what about those pesky mustangs and challengers with their "hemi's")

^This is very true. It lets you get a little more out of the N/A while helping you setup for a turbo swap in the future. Then if you wanted to you could pick up a light weight flywheel and possibly a good clutch for your TII drivetrain and install that. Then your even closer to the Turbo swap mark.

Not sure I'd get a Honda since I'd be afraid of it getting stolen all the time. Me personally I would get a standalone but we are in different situations.
I don't think you'd be happy with only a bridgeport or streetport. It'll just turn the car into a loud annoying POS and it'll still be slow (unless you do autocross or very low speed mountain driving). I have a streetported 6 port turbo on the stock turbo @ 5psi and its still boring and my standards are pretty low.
I would do as much turbo stuff as I can (might even complete it if you religiously follow the FS section) and keep saving for more upgrades.

The EASIEST way to get 200-250 is going with the turbo upgrade, but 1000 won't cut it for that option, at least not reliably.
