Arrow What is this white smoke?

Okay guys I have been having a starting issue with my S5 NA coupe since I swapped in my trouble free NA motor from my vert. Most of my problems have been with a cold start issue. It takes for ever to get it running and once warm it restarts okay, depending on how long it has been sitting.

My bro was driving the car down the street for a spin and the *** left the ******* thing in first gear the whole way down the road (8th mile). He never went above 5k rpm he said but still. I was going to have to choke a bitch. At the end of the street you could see this white billowing smoke come from the exhaust. He shut it down. He restarted the car and drove it back, no smoke, nothing. I have since restarted the car and drove it around with no issues whatsoever.

What the hell was the white smoke? Coolant? He said it smelled rich as hell and burnt his eyes. It looked much like it does when it is flooded and you get it started. Tons of smoke, not black, not exactly coolant white either.

On a side note I changed the fuel rail thinking my fuel issue is regulator related and now the car starts like **** the same and now it wont hold an idle, meaning if you let off of the gas it just dies out on its own.

check compression, watch your coolant temps while driving, and you may just need to do some regular tweeking, IE warmup, set idle, jumper initial set coupler, set timing, adjust tps, re-adjust idle.

Use the FSM to your advantage, it can actually teach you more than I can.

But the initial set coupler is a plug on the driver's side, by the leading coil pack that you jumper once the engine is warm to get the computer into a base map so that you can do things like set idle, timing, tps, etc.

Could be a possible vacuum leak you have. when you swapped the engine did you do it complete with all the sensors attached and vacuum spider attached? what did you (if you did) swap around? if nothing, check your electrical connectors. Was the old engine acting the same way?

You said it takes forever to warm up, but when was the last time you used it on the vert you took it out of (since you said it was trouble free)?
