What is this, and what does it do?
Ok, there is a black canister on the passanger side of the engine bay attached to the strut tower, on the firewall side. I believe this is the infamous charcoal canister, but what exactly does it do? I did a search, and it says that it catches gas fumes, but there is a liquid formed on my "drain tube" that comes from the bottom of it. I ask this because i seem to be leaking coolant every once in a while, and it is running down my passanger side "frame rails" so i cant see where it is coming from, and none of the other fittings that have anything to do with coolant seem to be leaking. I was wondering if maybe this canister has something to do with it.
Thanks again guys!

it is the charcol canister. it stores fumes built up in the gas tank, then the purge solenoid is commanded open by the ecu/pcm, it gets the fumes sucked out by the tinake manifold. the line at the bottom is a vent hose so vaccum does not form in the canister while being purged.

hmmm... does anyone know where my coolant leak can be coming from then???? It has to be somewhere on the passanger side w/ some part of the frame underneath it where the water/coolant can run down.
any guesses?

I had problems with that hose. It's very hard to see and you have to remove all the other air and water hoses between the UIM and the firewall to get at the hose but it's probably easier to just remove the whole UIM.
The water path comes from the back of the water pump to the idle control valve on the drivers side of the UIM to the secondary throttle control just next to the throttle plates then down to the top of the engine. (sorry I know I didn't use the correct names for the valves)
If one hose is leaking then probably all the hoses are getting ready to leak. There are two hoses to get water to the idle air valves and two heater hoses.
The two hoses delivering water to the UIM are the hardest to get at. The remaining hoses are so cheap and easy to replace you might as well do them all.
