What is this? What does it do?

On my 87 TII, I just broke a part.

THe previoius owner broke it first and glued it back together. I bumped it today and it broke completely off.

What is the name of this part, what does it do, and does anyone have one for sale? Thanks

BTW, I looked in my haynes manual, but didnt find it.

That solenoid valve is only there for the Accelerated Warm-up System, the 3000rpm start-up idle. Don't bother fixing it, just remove it and plug it's connections.

vicious525E.....on a 87 you should still get a high rpm at cold startup, just reduced, if the air bypass valve fails. You'll get something like 2300 rpm instead of 3000. The bac and air bypass work together.

If your high speed start up does not work anymore, then take a look to see if the water temp sw at the bottom of the radiator is still connected.

A tip for other plastic that breaks. Bondo Marine Epoxy Stick. It's a putty stick with high bond strength and high temperature resistance.

I had the same situation. When I got my car the previous owner broke it and tried to fix it and then one day I was removing my intercooler and it broke off. I fixed it though. I need to get rid of it some day.
