What Vac lines to remove/block off?

OK I have a S5 external engine block and I'm dropping it into a S4 NA. So I do not have TII parts readily on hand

My Q is what Vac lines and other compnents can I remove/block off?

I live in AZ and I have to pass emissions in 2 years so I am running no cat and no air pump right now.

What vac lines can I cap off for now to help reduce my grief when I put the engine back together?

I don't want to remove items because I will have to eventually hook it all back up for emissions time.

I'll keep the Vac hard metal lines but would just cap the ends.

I'm still debating if I should remove the coolant lines and such from the TB. Is it that hard?

I would just leave it like it is. If you're going to need them there really isn't any point in blocking them.

Anyway, You'll need:

Assorted vac caps, oil catch can, zip ties. new upper intake gasket if yours is fuxored.

Lines you want to keep:

Vac spider for oil metering
injector air bleed
twin scroll if you still have it.
secondary fpr vac line

Eliminating the purge valve is worthwhile, it eliminates blow by in the intake and sludge buildup.

Procedure:
cap off all the vac lines on the front of the intake 3 to be exact. Cap the line near the firewall, 3rd one down.

Cap off the lines associated with the bac valve, Take the upper intake off and remove the thermowax on the throttle body, run the coolant line from the water pump directly to the block.

Remove the Purge valve (black cylinder connected to the metal hardlines on the drivers side of the engine) run a hose from the oil filler tube and the lower neck to the oil catch can. T it in if you must, run the line with the pill in it going from the intake to the hardline, then connect this to your catch can. Plumb in the Charcoal canister to this as well.

honestly its alot of screwing around for the gains. Did this on my car and its rock solid @ 750rpm. I would say if you have no idle issues its not worth it to block off the vac lines to the emmissons. The catch can is a different story though.

Good luck

I forgot to mention I have a 88 GTU.

I'm dropping in a S5 Jspec with S4 internals.
So I have all S5 engine parts like turbo and manifolds.

The TB and injectors are S4 as well as harness and elctronics with a S4 Mech OMP.

I haven't gotten the engine back yet so I have all new gaskets and stuff.

When I got the Jspec it had no airpump and there was a long vac hose capped off for what ever line went towards that area. Got an idea of what line this is?

There are also a few blocked off plate on the LIM. The big ACV thing is still there though.

So i'll keep the OMP ones.
The Injector bleeds(Are they the ones on the LIM at the injector base?)

and Secondary FPR line.

Are any of these things capped off going to affect idle/etc? or just emissions?

I'm house sitting now but have the LIM and UIM because I'm polishing them so I can check out the vac lines once I'm outta here.
