what is this tube?

its a 1990 gtu. this is the tube beneath the intake tube. i was replacing the old hks filter with a new k&n. this tube was connected to the HKS filter, and was almost entirely closed off through the filter, due to design, not it being dirty.

what id this tube? do i have to worry about it? can i close it off? do i have to buy a small breather filter for it? what happens if i close it off? etc, etc

It pumps air to your exhaust intake and opens your aux ports.

I'm about to post on the opening of the aux ports with air pump removed so check that post- but other than that I believe no harm no foul. Greg C.
