What is this solenoid thing with 4 wires on it? What does it do?

When you're in 5th in keeps the shift lifht from going off.

Not really a rebuild. Just clutch and flywheel install, along with all new external gaskets and seals. New trans front cover and seal, clutch fork and pivot. front and rear main seals, all new gaskets on lines and whatnot. all emissions blocked and some other junk. wastegate ported. most engine parts cleaned and painted... I have a thread on it somewhere on the first page

ahh, well good, it doesnt matter that one of the wires got broken. None of my lights work properly anyway lol.

Fifth, or over the top switch, is used to trigger open the Split Air Solenoid on the ACV when you go to fifth gear. It does that by putting a ground on a pin of the ECU which in turn puts a gnd on the solenoid. That's for a non turbo car.

On a turbo car it puts the gnd on the Split Air Solenoid directly without going thru the ECU.
