I asked for pictures and stuff, He's asking $1500 but it's not currently running, thoughts? Or should I wait for a better one to come along?

"Not currently running" can cover a multitude of sins.
A non-runner with a bad top and an automatic would be a "no-go" for me.

Yeah I'm okay with a non-runner, but I need to have it be a manual,what's the point of an automatic sports car?

Any one of those issues- depending on what the car looks like- might be OK, but to deal with all three at the same time would be too much work/money.

Thanks for the advice, I'll save my hard earned money for something that runs. mean while I'm going to track down a service manual

The online FSM is your best bet, IMO.
I think the Haynes manual sucks (although plenty disagree with me on that) because it's too generic and the pictures are blurry.
