shutting off. no idiot lights

well it seems my car is the inventor of weird and odd problems.

i dont even know how to search for this so if its already been posted im very sorry

so this has started happening more and more. i got in this morning to drive and it started up just fine. then about 20 seconds into warming up it just shuts off. no dummy lights no shift up light but the parking lights still work. i dont know if the radio was workn or not i didnt check( i was in a hurry) the weirdest thing was that when it shut off the tach dropped immediately but the motor was still running for a second or two then died.

this makes me think its something with the ignition switch not getting power?

usually i can pull the key out and itll fix itself and run fine. well not this time. i kept trying to get it and got no power to the engine or the display. so i got on my motorcycle and left for school.

i got home and it started fine and ran fine like nothing had happened.

By no power when you tried to turn it back opn after it shut off on you do you mean that nothing powered up, not the radio, dash lights, no cranking from the starter, no clock; No power in the car at all? If so I'd bet it's an issue with one of your battery terminals or a main ground.

I agree. Your losing power to the ignition switch or the switch itself is kaput.

The ENGINE fuse is powered by the ignition switch when it's put to ON or better. The ENGINE fuse is what powers the circuit to the alternator and the FAIL circuit on/in it, that causes the Warning lights to come on.

You find the pigtail that powers the ignition switch. It's on the pigtail harness of the ignition switch. There is a pure black wire on one of the leads. That is power for the ignition switch. It comes from a single connector just about a half foot below the ENGINE BAY FUSE BOX. That connector could be loose or the connector to the ignition switch pigtail could be loose. Or the igniton switch itself could be intermittent. Hard to tell from here.

But the lack of Warning lights indicates a loss or power to the ignition switch. OR ENGINE fuse is intermittent????
