just like the title says what are the things that will actually set off the check engile light. becase when i am driving down the road i dont have any problems than out of no where the light will click on. ill pull over shut it down and turn it back on, it will go for like 30 mins than click back on.. any ideas i know know how to see what code it is, if someone will be so generous to tell me how it might make this eazier, thanks

 

If it's the '89/91, pull the code and post the results, and somebody will reply. There are dozens of reasons the cel will come on.

 

yeah there is a pretty easy solution to this.

run the code. diagnose the problem, fix the said problem, check codes again, if everything is good, resume having a good time.

cutting corners only can cause you to lose your fingers in the process. no idea where i heard that but it makes sense, espically when dealing with 7's.
