what is the little plate for that covers up some open area between the tranny and the side housings, near the oil filter assembly. I took off the bolt and looked down there and i didn't know what i was seeing and why it was open, plz enlighten me.

 

that is prolly just your dust shield

 

Its a hole for the top mount starter on the old school rotaries.
