Basically, yeah. I'm removing the entire thermowax and secondary throttle
plate assemblies. This does a few things: smooths airflow through the TB,
removes the secondary throttle plates as a restriction, improves throttle
response and feel (not as heavy), and disables the cold-start high-idle and
secondary throttle plate boost-prevention. The reason for the first few are
obvious. In my case (and as is VERY common), the thermowax assembly was
never releasing, and holding my secondary throttle plates closed, which
caused a low-boost condition, as well as choking my car in the upper RPM.
Nasty stuff.

It also has the nice side-effect of really cleaning up the TB in terms of
looks, as well as future maintainance. Have you ever heard of the 90 degree
coolant hose? It's only purpose in life is to be a return from the
thermowax crap, and it's a big pain when you want to pull the TB. You can
eliminate the entire UIM assembly coolant path when you do the TB mod. Nice.

Oh, and as a small aside, it simplifies things - I'm having a bit of a high-
idle-when-hot problem, and now I don't have to worry about whether my TB
may be a part of the culprit. KISS. :-) The only downside that I've found
is that the car's a little harder to start in the mornings for most people
since it won't hold itself high enough to prevent stalling - my car seems
to be an exception, however :-D Mine will drop to a solid 700 idle stone
cold. Niiiiice. YMMV.

I don't agree. I am good friends with No7Yet. He did the TB mod, and when I drove his car, I could tell the difference. The throttle was alot lighter and it made full boost, not to say that the TB mod was to thank for that one but I'm sure it helped.
