What speakers for my 7

I'm looking at speakers on ebay, what should I go with thats not expensive? Also what are the sizes, I've been seeing different results...

Also is 100w peak & 20w rms good for the front speakers?

If you goto the 2nd gen faq it has all stock sizes.

Also, we need to know about you're entire setup to tell you if those are good speakers for your use.

If you're just using a Head Unit, those speakers are probably fine.

I just ordered a 800w RMS amp gonna do a mono Kicker 10" sub under one of the behind seat compartments, will that sound Ok under there?

Also I go the pioneer 2 way speakers, now all I need is to get rid of this cheap deck

How do I wire the amp tho? I've never wired one before, dont I need to make a relay

sounds like you have no idea what your doing hehe, no relays needed, you'll need an amplifier wiring kit though, i have no idea if that sub will fit in the bins of not.

Your amp gets permanent power from the battery (big fat wire). Your amp will then get a switched power from the head unit (called the remote wire). This is merely the signal for your amp to turn on from the head. No need to hook in to other wires. It will switch on with the head unit and turn off with it.

for your rear speakers, take out the little 4 inchers and throw in some 6 1/2's. all you gotta do is take the metal mounting plate and cut the whole bigger. i used a die grinder and did it in no time at all. the 6 1/2's sound real good back there.

My fc hasnt had a stereo since ive gotten it. how do the front 4'' speakers sound upgraded with aftermarkets? Seems like being on the dash pointing down would take away from some of their sound. Im probably going to be doing some stereo work soon. nothing with subs or amps, just a nice simple head unit and some 4'' good speakers up front and some nice 6 1/2 in the back.

All I have had since I got my car was some pretty good 6 1/2's in the back since my front amp was blown and I never goa round to re-wiring the fronts. I just did it last week and it made a fairly noticable difference, even with the wimpy 4" speakers. I used some nice eclipse units up front.
Also, I don't know if this is true or not, but I have heard that if you upgrade to a nice head unit and more powerful speakers that the stock amps can become restrictive and mess up the sound, so you will get cleaner sound from running new speaker wires.

Thats good to know, saves me alot of problems. I was going to wire into the stock speaker wires. My stock stereo plug I guess got clipped, unless it never had a harness plug to begin with. In my dash there are like 8 or 9 wires just laying bare and tangled up, so that saves me from sorting them out. Ill just run all new wiring or bite the bullet and bring it somewhere and have them deal with the hassle. Nothing worse than wiring for me

rewire the whole audio system. bypass the oem amps and run new speaker wire to all four speakers. as for an amp, you'll have your power wire with fuse that runs from the battery to the amp to power it. you'll have your remote wire also running to the amp. this wire is blue on your aftermarket harness. your amp kit will come with a remote line and you just have to tap that in when you drop down your rcs's. run the remote line, rca's and power wire to the amp and connect them up. connect your ground on the amp and run your wires from the amp to your subs(speaker wire works great) that are in the box and you're good to go. thats a rough breakdown of how to do it. where you run your wires is up to you. the best place i've found is under the carpet on the driver's side close to the rocker panel. i install stereos and audio equipment for a living at best buy. i probably do four or five amp/sub combo's a week. sometimes it can be a pita. good luck to you sir.

I actually spliced the speaker wires directly into the stock harness so it works exactly like stock.

What he said!

Also as a note, I"ve run 3 different systems in my 7's; all used upgraded 6 1/2's in place of the rears and left the stock fronts (bypassed the oem remote amps, however for all 4 by running new wires). 2 of the setups used a mono amp to drive subs mounted in the storage bins; the first setup used a pair of 10" subs mounted on a baffle board over top of the bins, with fiberglas packing in the compartments and a vent hole in the board. Amp was mounted on the board in between the subs. Sounded great but was visible and got stolen. System 2 in the same car uses a baffle board UNDER the storage bin frame with 3 8" units; looks completely stock with the bin covers still in place and sounds great. Speakers are more protected as well. My other car uses a Kenwood self-powered 10" unit in the back corner of the hatch; takes up a bit of room but was dead easy to install. I keep it covered with a ratty old blanket so nobody can see what it is. Sounds great, easy to remove or change.

i'm running 6 1/2 boston acustics in the rear an in the doors with eclipse 4" under the dash an kenwood tweeters in the door vents. some of this was already in the car when i got it cause if it were up to me it would all be kenwood. i also got two kenwood 12" in the back with a 800 watt kenwood comp amp powering them. the head units a pioneer an the speakers are powered of it for now but when i get the money its all gonna be kenwood exelon series.

not to thread jack but just to borrow

speaking of which does anybody know how to an where a good place to add in 6x9's at is?
i was thinking in the top of the rear bins

I have 70W RMS JL Audio 6 1/2's in the rear, and 20W RMS eclipse 4's in the front. I've got a set of nice Blaupunkt 6 3/4's that are 70W each as well that I am planning on mounting in the doors, but I haven't gotten around to it since I will have to custom mount them as my car only had 4 stock speakers. I've also got some 6 1/2 MTX's that are 50W rms component speakers I might mount in the door if I use the blaupunkts in my daily driver.
