what size tire?

I'm getting a set of yokohama avs es 100's and was wondering if you guys think i should go with a 205/60/14 or the 195/60/14. I'm putting these on my stock 87 base rims. the 195's a little lower profile but the 205's a little wider.

well i might be completly wrong on this but going with a bigger sidewall would give you a little more cusion therefore taking a little away from handling so wouldn't it negate being that 10mm bigger? so by going with the 195 the ride might be slightly stiffer helping out handling? also by going with a little smaller tire wouldn't it weight less?

the number you're throwing around is the tire width buddy. the second number is the sidewall height.

yes i realize that, and both tires that i mentioned are 60% sidewall, therefore making the sidewall of the 195 smaller.

No like 5.5"... not even 6"

You'd be crazy to put a 225 on that.

how about 195 in the front and 205 in the back? Save you some cash and get you some grip.

i don't wanna go with that big of a sidewall, that's why i was thinking of going with the 195/60/14's, although betting the 205's in back and the 195's in front does sound like a good idea for performence.

I'd go with the 205s, all around, because if you mix match size tires, you can't rotate any of them. Yoko AVS I believe had a specific rotation pattern which means you could only rotate a side, not put the driver's on the passenger side. And I'm sure you wouldn't want 205s in front and 195s in back

why don't you just buy some cheap used 15x6 or 16x7 wheels and do a decent sized tire???
