I think what you are referring to is a method for doing a ghetto compression test. Make sure your battery is fully charged. Remove one (only one) of the leading plugs, crank the engine and you should hear strong puffs like: PUFF-PUFF-PUFF-PUFF-PUFF-PUFF, and so on. Replace the plug and do the same with the leading plug for the other rotor housing. If you hear strong PUFFs, your compression should be acceptible.

If you do not hear any strong puffs, or if you hear something like puff-puff-PUFF-puff-puff-PUFF, etc., then you may have low compression. To verify, have a proper compression test done by a rotary tech or someone who know what they are doing.

VA also...

you could always do the "finger trick"...

take both leadings out, have someone crank the engine, and hold your finger over each leading hole, one at a time and then compare...

make sure your finger seals the leading hole for more accurate comparison.

i usually take both leading out at the same time and listen. ive been doing it a while though so it might be easier to do one rotor at a time. im to the point to where i can listen through the exhaust tip and tell you if your motor is good or not.
