and BTW the hemi cuda ran 14.30's @97mph... |

lol! dude! the hemi from 65-71 is ONLY a 426. the 440 big block is a DIFFERENT engine. they were BOTH available in the cuda.

Course you can make a 440 Hemi by changing the displacement of the 426 Hemi.

A piston engine should not be discussed in this thread. This is a rotary website. You guys need to take it to a MOPAR forum!

Oh ok, so the 440 just wasn't a Hemi. 14.30's ain't bad considering the weight of the car. What do you think it woulda ran with a chassis like the 1990 Dodge Daytona?

Given that the Daytona was a K-car chassis, I'm guessing it would have run about five feet before snapping in half.

Either way knowledge is knowledge.

with 350NET CRANK HP it should be 13.9's, and if it actually made 425hp, its 13flat. putting the engine in a different chassis wouldn't matter much, the engine+trans is probably 1500lbs in iron! |

yes it is! plug 4100lbs (car is 3900lbs without the driver) 14.3@97 into a drag race calculator and you get 285hp....

this thread needs to be locked.

Agreed. Thread author is an idiot and this thread contributes nothing.

I know that my Daytona had a curb weight of 2750, and I believe that the 440 long block weighs around 600 plus say a 300-350lb transmission, so after the swap we'd roughly be looking at a 3400-3500lb car and then add another 100-200lbs of weight in the ass end and remove some weight in the front and set up a 13 degree pinion for better traction on the launch. I'm thinking the end result would be a 3600lb car with around 320rwhp and about 350-400lb/ft of torque on a 13 degree pinion with 10.5"-13" wide rear drag radials, that has maybe a 58/42 weight ratio, that may run mid to high 12's and possibly break into 11's on a good day.
What do you think? |

too much work! the FC makes enough power to run high 12's with an exhaust and a turbo...
Here's a pic from our team meet Friday night. http://i53.tinypic.com/28cd188.jpg |
What's this team bullshit? Are you still in high school or something?

It's my thread and I'm discussing my old build idea, if you don't like it then don't read it. Don't mean to sound like a dick man but this is my build thread, and my last build idea before I sold my Daytona was to do a 440 cu in rwd swap.
20B would eat up that stupid Chrysler engine in the straights and definitely in the corners. |
See what I mean........hillbillly, put an all iron Olds big block in an Rx7
http://youtu.be/oVmboiKo1Q8 If you look at all his vids, notice how none of them show the car taking a corner. The thing probably plows in the turns like there is no tomorrow. |

Fine, but it is bad enough when some hillbilly installs an aluminum piston engine like the LS engine, but it is really bad when you put in an all iron big block. That Rx7 will handle like a school bus. You ruin the whole concept of the car unless you are planning to drag race it only. I guess some people don't mind having to slow down to 2 mph to take a corner, but with the rotary you would never have to slow down like that.

So why have 2pages about mopar bs? U said I decided on a 13bt with upgrades to get to the pwr lvl u want? so instead of spouting useless mopar bs, maybe try and post something worthwhile. This thread issue classic example of a fanboy pipedream build.

Umm.... Yeah, I don't think you understood what I was going to do. My original build idea before I bought the FC was to swap my 2.5L N/A Chrysler K engine in my Daytona with a 440cu in BB paired up to a 727 Torqueflight transmission. I sold my Daytona before doing the swap and bought my FC, I have no intentions of ever putting a piston anywhere near any RX-2,3,4, 7, or 8 that ends up in my hands. I love the Wankel Rotary and every millimeter of it's design.
That is what we are talking about! |
I've got some friends up in Iowa with an S4 Turbo II engine that has a blown turbo, I can drive up and buy it for $200, so that's a start, problem right now is finances, they said they'll hold onto, so for now my build is postponed, I wanted ideas at first but now I'm deadset on what I'm gonna do and how I'm gonna do it, just takes time.

Just moved to PA for a job, even further postponed on my build project. Yay.
|
Finally getting back to Tucson this weekend, $2500 in my wallet and buying the GTU from Cooper next week, also getting TII upper and lower IM setups, S5 n/a exhaust to use until it goes turbo, and battery from interstate.
