Hey Guys
This would be my first RX7 if i buy it...im movin away from the conventional engines for a while and checkin out these rotary ones. I have a spec V right now and im thinking of getting a rx7. I dont knw if ill still keep the spec V. So any wayz im going to go check out this car my friend found for me...its a 89 RX7 and he said the motor is fully rebuilt and has 1 year warranty. The motor has 1000 miles on it and the chasis has over a 100k. He is willing to let it go for $3500. What should i be really looking for? Any advice would be helpful. O ya and he also said that hes running 13.2 on street tires and he has the slips to prove it. What u guys think?

13.2 on street tires / 1000 miles on engine. well, hopefully that 13.2 wasn't run in the break-in period, but from the last engine. and you didn't mention it being turbo, but i'm going to assume it is if its running a 13.2 on street tires. any other info would probably help people tell you how good of a deal it is.

Hey thats the wierd thing...its N/A ...no turbo. He just said its a brand new rebuilt motor. I will have to go and see what condition its in, ill try to take pics if i can so i can post on here. Its very rare for a N/A rx7 to get into the low 13's so i wonder what he has that is differnet.
O ya and he also said that the back is all gutted out..it only has the front 2 seats.

well i knew where the car was so i went to take a loook at it.
Its a 89 GXL N/A and the interior is GUTTED OUT ..i mean besides the two seats theres nothing left in the car...may b thats how hes runing low 13's

Just wondering ...sine the car is in very good shape from the outside and for $3500 its a good buy...how much would the interior cost liek the door panels almost everything in the car except the spedometer and stuff.
What do you guys think cause i cant drive it like that(its going to b a daily driver)

well, chances are if he did the gutting himself, he might still have the interior stuff... in which case you could go and put it back in.... but imo you would be better off finding one with an unmolested interior if you are using it as a daily driver, and yeah, definately find out if those times were during the break in period... because if he raced the engine right after the rebuild then you dont want that engine (racing the engine during the breakin period would have voided the warrenty also)

its got a driver seat so you can drive it like that. RX-7 are 2 seat cars. There was an optional +2 seat for the back. +2 meaning that they weren't full size seats. If there are junk yards near you, you can buy all the inside stuff cheap, but it may not be in the greatest condition. There is a for sale section on this forum. People are always parting out cars so you can hook up with someone and score a whole interior, any color you want. Again, parts will be used. I don't have a link for the site that sells complete carpet sets, but I have seen new interior carpeting available for less then $150. Don't think it came with the door stuff, just floors and rear trunk area. Does the car look like this one but with doors, wheels and a motor?

as a matter of fact...the car looks almost like that.
The body is in good condition but for some reason theres a hole in the back window...its like a very smooth hole i dunno what it was for...may b the antenna?
Then the moonroof has a little bit of it sticking out when its closed. Im going to talk to him today to find out if he has the interior but basicaly its bare down to the metal ..like literally only things he has are the setats...theres no shift booth no door panels...and there are wires hanging out like crazy. It feelslike im gona trip on the wires in the car

I think i should go check out the junkyard to c if i find ne thin than may b decide on the car. but on average if u guys were to take a wild guess on how much it would cost to have the whole inetrior piece...what would u guys say? approximately offcourse
