What is this sensor??

Working on an 87 N/A I found what looked like a thermosensor, hanging out by the alternator, with no apparent place to go. I followed it to a connector that led to an identical sensor threaded into the thermostat housing, undeneath the alternator. Forgive the awful picture quality, I took it with my phone. The only thing I can guess is that it is aftermarket. Anybody know what it is.

You're right.
It's aftermarket.
Mazda never used plastic wire loom like that under the hood.

BTW, since you're in P'Cola, do you know Dale / Mike / Dan / Jay / Richard folks???

You're completely missing the thermoswitch connector/wiring...crazy ****. The one in the pic looks like another thermoswitch tapped it...the stock location is on the back of the waterpump housing....

thermoswitch, thermosensor...whatever....
