no...why would I be sarcastic?? I think 3k to 3.5k is a good price on a super clean s4 provided that it has either low mileage or the engine was recently rebuilt....

o yea got one other question, sorry dont' knwo squat bout rotaries just think might as well give something new a try. but how would i know the rotor is in good shape? Like doing a compression test? smelling the exhaust? hear for knocks on the car?and for the turbo boost, at what rev do i actually get the boost? And bout the boost performance?

Well..the best way to know if the motor is good is to do a compression test.
If you're getting over 100 on all faces, you should be doing good.

If the engine is unmodified, it should only be running 5.5 psi of boost. Boost, I think, comes on at around 3500 RPMs and goes full by 5k....after 5.5k - 6k, the turbo loses efficiency...

^I'm not 100% sure on this though...

well...it's nearing the max life expectancy on the engine...

TII's last maybe 150,00 miles....I'm not saying that this one is going to blow up on ya in 10k miles because if it was properly maintained and serviced regularly, it could last a while longer.

Whereabouts in the bay area are you? I'd look into having it checked out before you decide to buy it. There are a few reputable shops around that would probably be more than happy to inspect it for you.

3500 is perfectly fair, unless theres a million completely stock t2's in your area. no one has brought up if its an S4 or S5 yet. S4 = 87-88, S5 = 89-91. If its an S5 its worth that without a doubt, and you should hurry and buy it before someone else finds it. If its an S4 i say its still worth 3000-3500 if its runs well.

haha, smelling the exhaust will definitely give you the wrong idea if you have never owned a rotary before, well at idle anyways.

if you want to do your own compression test and the owner will let you, here:
