What is this nipple on LIM below left heater core line
Is anyone able to identify what this nipple goes to? It's on the LIM and is the size of a heater core hose but from what I understand, isn't part of the heater core system. I can't find any mention of it in the FSM, any help would be appreciated! This is one of the last things left on my build
The tube that that smaller tube branches from is the split air tube.
The split air tube serves two functions: the large nipple connects to the back of the LIM so the air control valve can send air to it (from the air pump).
That smaller tube provides the pressure to drive the aux port actuators.
1. Can I simply leave that nipple as-is? (No cap/hose needed) I don't have an air pump so I guess no air would be blowing through it so maybe I could just put a section of hose over it and a bolt to block any dirt from getting in?
2. My original plan to retain the 6 port system was to weld a small piece of tubing onto the exhaust like RB does in their headers/catback. Then I would connect the smaller tube from the actuators to this. Does that sound feasible?
You can put a cap on it and leave it. Your ACV has no function without the air pump and split air tube, so if it's still there you can delete that tube.
As a temp fix (ugly but functional) a 35mm film canister fits perfectly over that size of hose. So stick a small section of hose on there and then the film canister over the end of that. It will be difficult to find a bolt that big.
Your plan for the aux ports sounds like it would work, but I've never tried it. If RB is able to sell a product that functions that way, it's a safe bet that it works.
