Don' t know about the rebuild but I put 188K on my 1st gen before selling it and it was still running like new. Only thing I did was change the oil every 3K miles. I have 60 K on my Mazda reman. TII and it's still going strong.

I think the Engine runs about $2,600 from the dealership.

If you have them install it its around $4,000 total

A very long time. N/a motors will run damn near forever if you take care of them. Regular oil changes, and generally good maintaince, and 150-200K should not be a problem.

Is it S4 or S5? The S5's seem to have a problem with the electric OMP, and it shoul dbe rebuilt with the engine. Ive had 2 S5 engines die b/c the electric OMP failed. One at 149K, the other at 127K.

Oops, I just noticed that your car is S4. Now if only the sig would show show up on the topic review, I wouldnt have to worry about that stuff.

Mileage

I've got 225,000 original km on my 88 GXL. Here's my $0.02

(1) Do oil changes earlier rather than later
(2) Flush coolant every 50,000km (overheating really kills these engines)
(3) Perform other routine maintenance as per owners' manual
(3) Never use cheap replacement parts on these cars

Anyone that's seen me around knows I don't baby my REX, but there's a very fine line between pushing these cars hard and outright abuse and neglect of your machine. That's why you got guys on here with 300K on an original motor and guys that are continually in the rebuild/break-in process until they are financially drained and have lost faith in the reliability of rotaries. That's the end of my rant!! Hope this helps someone.
