Question What material is the stock precat?

Hi
I have an 87 TurboII with a gutted precat. I want to weld in a bung for my EGT Gauge probe & need to know whether I can do it with my mig welder. If it is steel I can do it myself. If the precat is cast iron or stainless, I will have take it to a professional.
Has anyone done this?
Thanks
Stew

pretty sure is steel dude.. however.. If you don't have any gas with the mig welder.... it may be a giant bitch to do if you are going to try and use fluxcore wire on it.... Make sure you get it REALLY clean of any rust, dirt or grease
