What to look for when buying RX-7's
Hey..
I'm in the market for a car now.. and thinking about picking up a 2nd gen RX-7.. pref turbo II.
What are the big things I should look for that could cause me problems with the car ( what kind of wear and tear signs to look for on the engine and turbo (visible and audiable)) ?
Pretty much I want to stay $$<= $4,000

For =/> $4k, you probally should get a good car. Look foe a 1989+, b/c they are more powerful than the others. Make sure the engine has good compression, and less than 110k miles. TII's usually go bad around there. If they say there has been an engine swap (which is very likely or is needed) make sure they have documentation! Test drive the hell outta it, and good luck!

make sure to ask the guy if the car has had a rebuild, if its a t2 u want, what year? do some research before buying a rotary, i mean...these cars are great and all, unless u have no prior knowledge...your in for the ride of your lives. and plan on spending some money whenever something breaks. and plan on spending a lot of money to make ur car faster. heh. i'm in the process of making my N/A FC take on some t2s

All good recommendations.
Engines need a rebuild around:
86-88 TII - 160-220K miles
89-92 TII - 140-180K miles
Rebuilds aren't very hard and not very expensive if you do them yourself.
