What kinda Snail is this?

I got this for free off a friend who is moving he said he had it on his car in japan but is started to smoke.

Its an HT25 and bolts up to the stock S4 turbo manifold.
inducer is 48mm and the big end is 70mm. the stock turbo measures 44mm and 63mm.

it just appears to be a larger version of the Hitatchi Turbo that comes stock on the rx7. like the difference between a T66 and a T78 or something. same bolt pattern, just bigger.

he said it would give me 30-40 hp over my current setup, is it worth spending money for a rebuild kit from turbo city?

I'm on stock injectors right now with my walbro, not sure if my fuel system could handle this but i'm running 7 psi with 87 octane without detenation and by using 87 I have achived 20 mpg

Doing a quick web search, the turbo comes off some Nissan truck - probably a diesel cargo truck.

What the heck, go for it and see what you get! Unlike some of the really stupid ideas on this forum (air pump supercharger, Ford MAF conversion, NA intercooler, etc.) this actually looks like something worth trying.

I wounder what the power gains would be with all 3 together!?!

the MAF will flow more air. alowing the air pump to pump more through. more air = hoter air so I'll need the IC! sweet this is gona kick butt

I was driving down the highway and saw an 18 wheeler hauling off other 18 wheelers off that where wreaked and saw that huge turbo on there. I was like man id like to gra that turbo off there. Think there is any way of getting an 18 wheeler turbo to fit a car?

you could use one of those if you had GIANT ports and a 4" exhaust.. but really, they're too big to use with the average motor.. you'll never get it to spool.

The turbo in question has a stock S4 center and exhaust housing. The backing plate, intake wheel and front cover are not stock rx7 stuff. It may have come from a nissan. Can not remember now, it was a few yars ago when I had it on my car. I think it's operating range is in the 10-14lbs range. Should and did yeild a few more hp over stock.

Ah yes, the younger generation probably doesn't know the deal. It's nice to see that it has the same effect that it did 20 years ago, though.

It's from an Iron Maiden single, Aces High, from the Powerslave album. I thought it would be a good avatar for "Evil Aviator", and Iron Maiden is my favorite band.

I also made an avatar based on the Flight of Icarus single cover, but I decided to use the Aces High avatar instead.

The character on the Iron Maiden albums is called "Eddie". Here is more on Eddie:

BTW, this forum's "rock" smiley face is based on the Iron Maiden Eddie from the Piece of Mind album:

This thread is making me feel very old. Although I liked Priest more than Maiden, "Flight of the Icarus" rocked! Aw crap, feeling old again.

So, that turbo bolted up directly to the stock manifold?

I could name other things that suck, but then I'd be degenerating down to your level.
